December news letter, Christmas Party

Aqua Divers annual Christmas party was held on December 11, 2011 at Aqua Divers pool. We had a great turn out and thank you to all of those that attended.
Our dinner this year consisted of everyone bringing their favorite soup. This gave everyone the opportunity to try a variety of soups. The soup selections were; tortellini, vegetarian mushroom and white bean, fish and rice, vegetable beef, pumpkin, and potato and bacon. Those are the ones I can remember and they were all delicious. Then we had a selection of crackers, chips, sour dough bread and spinach dip, jalapenos with cream cheese filling, French bread, and tortilla spirals. For dessert we had cheese cake, chocolate coconut cookies, pumpkin pie, and apple pie with ice cream. Steven was busy making cappuccino’s for everyone and we had hot chocolate, soda, and regulator coffee to drink. No one went home hungry.
Everyone brought 3 dozen Christmas cookies for the cookie exchange. At the end of the party everyone took a plate of assorted cookies home with them.
We had a Chinese raffle where everyone brought a Christmas tree ornament which was wrapped so no one could see them. Then each person had the opportunity to swap the ornament they chose with another one that someone else chose by putting a dime in the kitty. Each ornament could be swapped 5 times then it was frozen. There were a lot of uniquely homemade ornaments this year which makes it a lot of fun to swap. When all ornaments were frozen then the dime kitty was raffled off. The lucky winner this year received $5.20 worth of dimes.
We also had 5 regular raffle prizes this year. The winners were: Kristina – two-tier under water slate,
Al – a snorkeling bag, Keith – a dry box for cell phone or camera, Donna – a swimming diver floppy dive hat, Kristina – an underwater pen light flash light.
And last but not least we had our annual Divers Roast. Those that were roasted this year were Kristina, Donna, Al, Leroy, Juan, Kevin, Judy, Sarah, and Steven. We had a lot of “oops” happen this year, so it was a lot of fun to go back over all those funny times. I try very hard to keep track of things that happen all year and then give those divers some sort of “oops” award.
