We started the meeting off with a report on the weekend of May 7 & 8 when we went to Albion to Abalone dive and scuba dive. The guys did go out on Saturday morning and brought back Abalone. It was Carl Puchalski’s first time Abalone diving and he enjoyed it and did get his Abalone. We cooked up Abalone for Saturday night dinner. Joyce messed up her recipe and it was a tad salty but, it seemed to disappear anyway. A couple of scuba dives were done as well for the weekend. The weather was a little breezy, but sunny. Everyone just took the weekend in stride, enjoyed the fresh air, the walks along the ocean, the cold dips in the ocean and the boat ride up the river.
The next event scheduled is for June 11 which is the “Knowledge Is Safe Diving” conference in Suisun. We will be carpooling down there; so anyone interested in going please contact us for a ride. We will put money in the kitty and share the expense of the gas. Call 707-425-1932 for your reservation for this conference. Breakfast and a BBQ lunch is included. We will leave here approximately 6:00am because it starts at 8:00am and goes until 4:00pm.
Then on June 12 we will be diving in Lake Oroville close to the Feather Falls finger. We will put the boat in at the ramp and run across the finger or up the finger to dive. We will meet at the boat ramp. Call or stop by the shop for directions. Pack a picnic lunch for the day.
July 22, 23 & 24 is the weekend that we will be diving at Little Grass Valley Reservoir. Make your reservations at Red Feather campground if you want to spend the weekend and make them now because they are filling up. We are in campground site #45 in Loop 2. Our group has sites #42,43,44,45,54 so far. Go onto to Recreation.gov to make your reservations. If you want to look at the campsites go onto ucampwithus.com. Remember to bring all of your own food, gear and camping supplies for yourself this weekend. We will have a pot luck dinner on Saturday night.
I have a question for all of you about which night we want to hold our meetings. We did just switch it to the third Wednesday of every month. But, now we have a few people that can’t make that night. Please let us know which night you would desire and which week of the month you want. Please let us know by calling us 671-3483, e-mailing us AquaDivers@syix.com or stopping by the shop. We will tally up the number of votes for each night/week. If we have a tie we will send out another e-mail to you and vote again until we narrow it down. Let us know as soon as possible. Perhaps we can get this going for the June meeting.
